Leading trademark licensing agency branches out to strategic brand acquisitions

New York, NY, June 5, 2012 – New York-based licensing agency, Brandgenuity LLC, announced today the formation of a new division, Brandgenuity Consulting, to focus on assisting manufacturers with strategic brand and property acquisitions and the management of ongoing licensing relationships. The division, which will be based in the company’s New York headquarters, will be headed by industry veteran Steven A. Cohen.

“We are growing as an agency and are excited to now offer a full suite of inbound and outbound licensing services to clients,” said Jay Asher, Partner, Brandgenuity. “Steven is known for his wide-ranging experience, his extensive relationships across the licensing industry, his keen eye and his creative, out-of-the box thinking. We feel he will be instantly invaluable both to companies well versed in licensing and also to those acquiring brands or properties for the first time.” Asher also added, “Having been on the manufacturing side of the business his whole career, we believe Steven will be an asset to all sides of our business.”

Brandgenuity Consulting will work hand-in-hand with manufacturers to strategically acquire appropriate, relevant and business-building brands and properties in a variety of categories. Brandgenuity Consulting will be on-hand in the Brandgenuity booth (#6162) during the upcoming Licensing Expo 2012.

Until recently, Steven served as Vice President of Licensing for CSS Industries, Inc. Prior to joining CSS, Steven was Vice President of Disguise, Inc. where he pioneered Disguise’s entry into the licensing business. Steven is also an attorney who has practiced law in both the public and private sectors. Steven has served on the board of The International Licensing Industry Merchandisers’ Association and is a frequent speaker on various licensing topics. Additionally, Steven will be speaking at this year’s Licensing UniversityTM seminar, Advanced Licensing Strategies.
