Job Description

The Manager, Licensing & Strategic Partnerships is responsible for managing Capcom’s licensed products across the continuously expanding brand portfolio with the goal of exceeding revenue targets and growth objectives.

The Manager, Licensing & Strategic Partnerships contributes to the development and management of licensing initiatives by constantly evaluating all new licensing opportunities, presenting those opportunities to the company, and negotiating the most attractive deals possible in order to implement those opportunities. The Manager, Licensing & Strategic Partnerships works with Capcom’s marketing departments to execute merchandise marketing plans.

The primary objective will be to secure new streams of revenue by securing new licenses in untapped or underdeveloped categories. This position regularly liaises with licensing partners, marketing and internal departments within Capcom regarding licensed product sales and build Capcom’s brands and licensing portfolio.

The Manager, Licensing & Strategic Partnerships will be responsible for competitive and market viability analysis of all licensing opportunities. Position will assist the department by providing Licensing Strategies, prospecting lists for licensing initiatives, and by pitching and negotiating licensing deals. Manages Capcom’s Licensee relationship for all assigned licensees.


Identify and develop new business opportunities in North America and European markets. Solicit and secure new licenses in assigned categories.
Negotiate, on the company’s behalf, the most attractive licensing deals possible relative to the property profile and product category.
Serve as initial filter for license opportunities and evaluate those opportunities based on the strength of the licensee, the quality of products, and the appropriateness to the Capcom original property and product portfolio.
Manage multiple brands across several categories and the associated licensing relationships, while soliciting new licenses, and negotiating contracts.
Meet or exceed revenue targets and growth objectives
Develop strategies and business plans by category, retailer, consumer segment, and IP/franchise. Provides Brand Management and Product Development direction for licensed partners.
Maintain close relationships with the leading licensees in all major product categories.
Ensures existing licensees to remain Capcom’s best partners in each category and territory. Ensures that Capcom’s licensed intellectual properties are being developed as a quality product, and sold in a matter consistent with contractual obligations. Addresses all questions/concerns on comments and direction from licensee.
Formulates and develops proposals for licensing revenue and new business development opportunities for the LCP Department.
Devise, plan and coordinate revenue generating licensing collaboration opportunities with current and potential licensees.
Researches current licensing trends and competition to ensure that Capcom is staying relevant in the licensing industry.
Conducts industry research and prepares research reports documenting Capcom’s SWOT analysis, industry trends, business opportunities, and risks.
Conduct & facilitate Merchandise Planning kick off meetings with new licensees.
Participate and/or facilitate business discussions at tradeshows.
Analyze retail and consumer trends in the industry, specifically for relevant categories. Stays current with appropriate merchandise offerings/trends across mass, mid-tier and specialty retail, for specific age and gender demographics, and across territories and countries.
Develop compelling licensing pitch decks and brand presentations to serve in the acquisition of new licensees

Job Requirements

Required Experience:

3+ years of experience in the merchandise licensing industry
Product/Brand Marketing experience (5+ years) with proven brand building abilities in various categories
Proven experience in acquiring licenses

Skills & Abilities:

Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Strong organization & problem solving skills
Experience working with online databases.
Strong knowledge of Capcom’s portfolio of IPs
Exceptional project management, analytical and prioritization skills
Excellent communication & presentation skills


Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Communications, and 5+ years of relevant experience; or equivalent experience

Nice to Haves

Business level Japanese preferable but not required

Travel Requirements:

Up to 20%. This job includes regular domestic air travel—applicant must be willing to travel regularly. Job entails long work days during events up to 12-14 hours per day.
