Job Description

SEGA of America Licensing is searching for a Licensing Specialist who will contribute to shape and implement the licensing plan with a focus on Sonic the Hedgehog to help drive the company to success as a leader in worldwide entertainment. This position will steer SEGA's efforts to coordinate the outbound licensing of the company’s proprietary intellectual properties and possess an understanding of the videogame genre, popular culture and latest consumer product trends to gauge potential opportunities focused on soft lines, digital goods and the D2C SEGA Shop businesses. This position may contribute to discover innovative licensing opportunities and recommend categories / products to be licensed, guide the development of licensing deals and personally execute agreements. This position will work with the Licensing Leadership to determine short-term strategic objectives and contributes to the long-term strategies of the licensing department.

This is a temporary to permanent position beginning as soon as April 1, 2019.

Job Requirements

Specific Job Duties
• Manage soft lines, digital goods and e-commerce for North America inclusive of account management, analyzing performance and marketing strategy for product sell-in and sell-through.
• Define, develop and pursue licensing opportunities across multiple soft lines categories, focusing on outbound licensing.
• Responsible for business and vendor management of D2C e-commerce site, SEGA Shop
• Review licensing contracts, negotiate key business terms with licensees and work closely with legal team to finalize contracts.
• Liaise with other internal SEGA teams including Marketing, Creative, Animation and Product Development to ensure timely approval of products which may include: lead meetings; coordinate programs across all categories; review line lists; respond to product development team in the case of product submission changes; execute merchandising plans; public relations and advertising coordination.
• Recommend growth opportunities in new product categories and select, pitch and execute new segments to fill gaps for each SEGA property and to prioritize properties within the company portfolio.
• Assist with composing yearly forecast for licensing revenue, incorporating new business potential and existing partners.
• Build and maintain solid relationships with other SEGA teams and licensing potential partners.

Qualifications & Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent
• 3+ years of experience in outbound consumer products licensing, preferably in soft lines
• Comprehension of D2C e-commerce business model and assortment planning
• Knowledge of the retail market in the soft lines space with ability to envision new consumer product opportunities
• Excellent relationship builder with collaborative team player mentality
• Accomplished communicator and analyst with attention to detail

• Meticulous attention to detail and excellent organizational skills

Travel Requirements
Domestic travel up to 15% with tentative travel for Licensing Expo on June 3-6, 2019.
