Job Description

Located in our New York office the Manager, Consumer Products will be reporting to the co-VPs of Consumer Products, the Manager, Consumer Products will oversee the day-to-day licensing business across 9 Story’s owned intellectual property and brands from third party producers. The Manager, Consumer Products will work across both hard lines and soft lines to support the business in North America and internationally.

The successful candidate will join a small, entrepreneurial licensing team charged with creating best in class consumer products for kids globally while growing 9 Story revenue.


- Develop and maintain relationships with existing licensees and agents to ensure licensing strategies are executed across categories; serve as the day to day contact, obtain regular sales updates, and communicate information to applicable teams internally and externally

- Assist with the creation and implementation of licensing strategies for new properties, including timelines, partner selection and evaluation, and contract negotiation

- Manage the forecasting process with licensees and international agents

- Collaborate with Marketing to create brand materials for markets and regular licensee updates

- Ensure contractual compliance across all product submissions

- Liaise with internal departments, including but not limited to Marketing/PR, Creative, Development, Production, and Legal

- Help mentor Licensing Coordinator to ensure growth and success

- Other varied duties and special projects as required

Job Requirements

- 3-6 years’ experience in licensing, ideally with a focus on character and/or entertainment brands

- Experience pitching and signing new licensees and negotiating contracts

- Strong written and verbal communication skills and comfort with cold-calling

- Detail-oriented, collaborative, self-starter with excellent project management skills and the ability to multi-task

- Proven track record of balancing a strategic and analytic approach with short deadlines and shifting priorities

- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe platforms

- Ability to work flexible hours and travel as necessary
