THINK 450, the innovation engine of the National Basketball Players Association.

The National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) is the union for current professional basketball players in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Established in 1954, the NBPA mission is to ensure that the rights of NBA players are protected and that every conceivable measure is taken to assist players in maximizing their opportunities and achieving their goals, both on and off the court.

Whether it is negotiating a collective bargaining agreement, prosecuting a grievance on a player’s behalf or counseling a player on benefits and educational opportunities, the NBPA advocates on behalf of the best interest of all NBA players.

As a result of the most recent Collective Bargaining Agreement with the NBA, NBPA retained their own group Licensing Rights, effective July 1st, 2017. As such, NBPA has established, a for-profit Licensing and Marketing business wholly owned by NBPA, called THINK 450.

Job Description

This position will work closely with the EVP and VP, Licensing in leading the digital products category. This individual will be responsible for managing the day to day product development of existing digital licensees such as 2K and EA, and various other mobile gaming licensees and will play a key role in identifying new digital and technology based licensees to drive maximum revenue growth to support company financial goals. The ideal candidate will be able to lead multiple digital initiatives globally. They will be a strategic thinker, collaborator, and have a track record of success in consumer product licensing, both domestic and international.


● Serve as the day to day business and creative contact for the portfolio of various global licensees and work closely with them to develop and launch NBA Player products into the digital marketplace. Ensure that the product quality meets all industry standards and NBA player brand requirements.
● Identify new digital licensing partners and product categories. Research, pitch and negotiate deals for new contracts. Explore both traditional and non-traditional opportunities in the digital and technology space.
● Work closely with licensees to develop appropriate marketing activities for digital product launches which align with company objectives.
● In conjunction with Brand & Growth team, allocate marketing dollar expenditures to appropriate THINK 450 sanctioned events and initiatives.
● Ensure licensee compliance of all contractual terms (i.e. adhering to payment schedules, approval procedures, meeting key marketing terms).
● Work with THINK 450 legal on all matters relating to the licensing of NBA Player rights to third party manufacturers including contract negotiation and the policing of unofficial licenses goods in the marketplace.
● Collaborate effectively across the organization and garner support from internal teams to support business needs. Job Requirements

● BA/BS degree required, MBA preferred
● 5-7 years of consumer digital gaming licensing experience, both domestic and international
● Experience in the full product development life cycle of digital products
● Experience in brand building
● Command of retail math and analyzing sales data
● Strong ability to develop relationships with both internal stakeholders and external partners
● Savvy executive with experience in dealing with conflict resolution
● A strong cultural fit with a collaborative style
● Proficient in Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
● Travel required
