Job Description

The VP of Licensing, will report to the SVP of Domestic Consumer Products and will develop and execute a multi-category licensing strategy across all Saban Brands portfolio of brands. The successful candidate will collaborate with our creative, product development, retail, marketing, content and distribution teams to develop multi-phased product plans that drive relevance, revenue, competitive differentiation and brand integrity. They will build and maintain strong relationships with all key licensing partners. They will be a key contributor to the overall business development of Saban Brands.

• Conceive, pitch and negotiate creative licensing deals
• Develop and execute an overall licensing vision for strategically-related products and categories
• Establish a sales channel strategy, ensuring internal resources are aligned to achieve desired results
• Nurture and grow licensing partner relationships across all categories (toys, apparel, bedding, etc)
• Develop and execute domestic hard-lines and soft-lines licensing strategies and plans (target industries, categories, products and licensees) for multiple categories and multiple properties
• Develop, cater and adjust relevant presentations tailored for specific promotional/entertainment initiatives, licensee meetings, collaboration pitches, and prospective new business development
• Research categories, stay abreast of trends, source new ideas and identify white space opportunities
• Lead and manage the domestic licensing staff
• Analyze licensing forecasts and identify and drive opportunities for growth
• Strategize with licensees and retail business development for category growth including new channels of distribution
• Manage the planning and development of licensing marketing and communication materials
• Plan and implement the execution of Licensing exhibits, tradeshows, and summits
• Partner with internal accounting department for credit approvals, invoices, royalty reporting, late payment notifications and audits.
• Manage Licensee compliance based on contractual terms such as royalty reporting, audits, forecasting, marketing and product development
• Develop and manage short-term and long-range plans/budgets based on broad corporate goals and growth objectives
• Spearhead forecasting and budgeting for licensee revenue
• Improve and recommend new sales tools, including tracking reports
• Ensure licensed products and related business objectives are met, including sales goals, margins, EBITDA and working capital
• Full P&L responsibility; review activity reports and financial statements to determine progress and status in attaining objectives
• Attend relevant trade shows
• Ensure the responsibilities, authorities and accountability of the Licensing division are defined, understood and consistent with company directives

Job Requirements

• Bachelor degree
• 10-15 years related experience (consumer product brand management, licensing or similar entertainment company) with highly recognizable brands
• Expertise in licensing sales, retail development, collaborations, consumer product development and brand management
• Experience in event planning, marketing and promotions a plus
• Strong category trend awareness
• High caliber presentation, negotiating and closing skills
• Creative problem solver and project manager with the ability to drive revenue.
• Proven sales results that drive ROI, market and revenue development
• P&L and budget management experience
• An experienced leader who has managed and motivated a high-powered team to achieve and exceed objectives
• Strategic thinker
• A confident leader and strong management expertise
• Ability to develop detailed licensing strategy with the flexibility to adapt to changes in the marketplace
