Job Description

The Microsoft First Party business development team is responsible for working with Xbox and Microsoft Studios to support the creation and development of experiences for our video games partners and consumers.
We are looking for a proven business development manager for our outbound and inbound licensing initiatives to support our game brands in consumer products and linear entertainment working in partnership with our internal content development studios, their established consumer products business development teams and the marketing teams. As part of the role, you will evaluate strategic and market opportunities for Microsoft and each studios in line with their strategic direction. You will represent Microsoft's business needs through establishing and maintaining strong relationship with both internal and external partner. You will participate in deal development for specific programs and new business avenues. You will lead and participate in negotiations with strategic partners coordinating deal negotiations that are across multiple different groups in nature. You manage reporting of all strategic initiatives and their performance across Xbox. You will provide consistent world class business development service to our content development, business development and marketing teams across Xbox.
Based in Redmond and reporting to the Director of Business Development for First Party Licensing, Xbox Platform and Middleware, you will join a team of diverse, dedicated business development experts and will contribute significantly to impact the future success the team we support in Xbox and Windows. The Core competencies in the role include: deal negotiation, strategic thinking, partnership development, project management, team oriented and cross functional alignment.
Analyze market trends, produce market and competitive analysis, perform benchmark analysis and identify strategic opportunities
Finding, screening and evaluating potential consumer products and linear entertainment partners and opportunities
Sharing and discussing opportunities with the different businesses we support and other groups at Microsoft when appropriate
Driving due diligence with partners, and internal approval meetings with senior management;
Project managing business needs, deal parameters, deal negotiations, approvals and communication across Microsoft for middleware partners
Coordinating and driving negotiations working with Microsoft Account Managers or Business Development leads for top tier social and broadcasting services providers
Negotiating high value deals with complex term structures that mitigate risk and creating win-win outcome for both Microsoft and its partners
Driving contract execution and approval with internal stakeholders (Finance, Business Management and business sponsor)
Creating a trusted relationship with internal teams and establishing communication cadence to allow appropriate information flow and pro-activeness of our support to them
Developing competitive insight into long-term industry and market evolution to capitalize on historical and similar industry events and activities.

Job Requirements

We are looking for an individual that is passionate and knowledgeable about brands, consumer products and all forms of interactive entertainment
10+ years of experience spanning business development and strategy, partner focused deals with a strong consumer products background
Ability to work in an ambiguous changing environment where processes, services, technology and business models are evolving
Ability to work and adapt work priorities to match each internal partners strategic priority and business maturity
Experience building long-term commercial agreements that deal with ambiguities and dynamic business changes while minimizing risk.
Demonstrated ability to creatively move difficult deals forward by restructuring the deal and/or finding win-win scenarios and ensuring competitive advantage.
Developed strong relationships with external partners.
Domestic and International travel of up to 25%.
MBA, finance and technical background preferred but not required
