Celso Rafael’s Biography
Celso Rafael was born in Sao Paulo – Brazil in 1966, where he acquired his master degree in Economics, and has started his career in Licensing back in 1983 at Brazilian based studio Mauricio de Sousa Productions, where he became General Manager and supervised international growth for the group. In that role, he started the company Imagine Action, which was created to represent Warner Brothers – Consumer Products – division in the Brazilian territory, which achieved huge success and became one of the leading territories in the world.
The next natural step for the executive was to become an Entrepreneur and run his own business, which happened in 1998 with the acquisition of a participation in the Brazilian company Character Licensing, to represent many brand’s including Nickelodeon’s properties, Sega’s Sonic The hedgehog, MTV, Playboy, Marvel Heroes, etc.
To consolidate the Brazilian operation and aiming to expand the business, Celso Rafael took part and leaded the merge between Character Licensing and Exim Licensing Group in Brazil in 2004, creating the Exim Character Licensing Company, the largest licensing and events agency in Latin America.
After a 5 year period living in Miami and running the entire Latin American operation for the group where he had the opportunity to work with each one of the countries in the region, Celso decided to move back to Brazil where he is based today and run Exim Brazil operation, which is fully owned by the executive after his acquisition of the company in 2015.
