Job Description

Responsible for protecting the trademark and other proprietary rights and goodwill of Major League Baseball-related entities by reviewing and approving of all uses of marks and other elements featured on goods and services, and ensuring that licensees and others comply with MLB quality control guidelines, in conjunction with the Manager and Supervisor of Quality Control.

Ensures that MLB licensees and related MLB Entities comply with certain terms and conditions of their license agreements and with MLB guidelines.
Reviews and comments on domestic and international submissions of samples of products, publications, advertisements, promotional materials and other items featuring marks of Major League Baseball-related entities to determine whether trademark use and products comply with established MLB guidelines. Reviews samples manually and reviews artwork using an online, browser-based approvals system.
Participates in developing guidelines to be followed by MLB licensees and related MLB Entities regarding the use of Major League Baseball trademarks and other Major League Baseball property rights.
Interacts with and services licensees, Clubs, MLB Entities, relative to design issues and use of MLB marks
Coordinates the maintenance of hot market reference lists and books, when needed.
Assists Legal Department with trademark registration, maintenance and protection program by obtaining samples of goods and services on which marks are featured in all relevant classifications, and communicating with licensees, Clubs and other Major League Baseball-related entities regarding same as requested by the QC Manager, QC Supervisor or Legal Staff.
Assists Manager & Supervisor with departmental projects & administrative/clerical duties.
Assists with maintaining and updating QC departmental reference materials and records.
Performs related duties as required.

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree and one to two years of relevant experience in a Quality Control Department, law firm, Legal Department or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Strong attention to detail, organized, ability to multi-task, ability to communicate well orally and in writing, team player
Demonstrated computer proficiency with an emphasis on Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Outlook
Knowledge of Baseball is preferable
Foreign language capabilities beneficial
