Job Description

Overview of Position:

The Director of License Sales and Business Development is responsible for the development and growth of the licensing business at Earthbound, both current and future. In this role, the Director leads the business thru executive level relationships with all licensing partners, new clients as well as all internal partners and is a contributor of revenue and EBITDA. This position will report to the GVP at Earthbound LLC.

Job Requirements


New Business Development:
• Identify new opportunities in accordance with the companies licensing strategy, liaising with CEO, GVP, sales and creative partners on researching, pitching, negotiating and fully executing licensing contracts.
• Research and identify new licensing opportunities and prospective partners.
• Conduct due diligence.
• Review business and merchandising plans.
• Negotiate agreement terms and work with legal to agreement execution.
• Target larger corporate players for partnership
• Work with leadership to develop best practices and policies to develop and strengthen companies competencies in licensing business
• Work closely with leadership to evaluate new business opportunities, determine and execute strategies and position company for growth and success

Manage Licensed Business:
• Supervise licensing sales team in all aspect of their jobs, growth and career pathing.
• Collaborate with licensees in executing business strategies for growth.
• Manage relationships with brand owners and major licensees
• Oversee EB teams monitoring of license agreement compliance: financial, product, distribution etc.
• Negotiate renewals, terminations, and other agreement amendments.
• Liaise with marketing, legal and finance depts.
• Assist in identifying and retaining, best-in-class, category-specific licensees
• Manage licensees to insure good brand stewardship, maximize business and drive top line growth, and meeting revenue targets
• Partner with Creative Services VP to ensure creative needs and approvals are coordinated, prioritized, cost effective and of the highest quality
• Partner with Creative VP and providing content for sales materials, brand book, style guide and presentation collateral; including brand history and information, licensing strategy, sales history, brand collateral, etc.
• Partner with Legal to ensure property and rights research are complete by brand with proper registration and protection of the company's TM and compliance. Manage licensing contract process and counterfeiting issues.
• Identify marketing opportunities to increase sales, recommending plans and programs as appropriate.
• Assist with preparation of annual internal and external brand budgets and quarterly updates. Maintain and update internal and external sales forecasts
• Work closely with EB Royalty Administration team to insure compliance regarding royalty reports, royalty payments and other requirements of licensees. Insure proper royalty reports are created and submitted to clients as needed
• Attend trade shows and conferences to keep abreast of industry trends, innovative practices, Licensee compliance and new business opportunities.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Proven track record of ten or more years working in brand licensing.
• Demonstrate excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Including the ability to effectively interact with a wide range of personalities and styles.
• Fast paced work environment requires strong multitasking skills, excellent time management, and a high attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Exhibits Leadership Skills to drive and motivate team members and major projects or initiatives and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work with minimal supervision, and strong organizational and prioritization skills.
• Entrepreneurial, creative and open to change as the business demands it.
