Funko Opens First Store

Funko opened its first retail store inside its new Everett, WA headquarters, but has no plans for adding other locations “for the time being,” says Funko’s Mark Robben. The 17,000-square-foot store, which includes space for “immersive” exhibits that currently include Marvel, DC Comics, Star Wars and Harry Potter, will have 15 employees. It also will feature Funko’s vinyl figures, a Pop! Factory for making custom items and a Funko University designed to teach and mentor students in drawing and sculpting. The line of customers awaiting the opening began forming the afternoon of Aug. 18 and stretched for more than a block, says Robben.
