Disney, Hasbro Unveil ‘Star Wars Forces of Destiny’

Disney and Lucasfilm will launch the “Star Wars Forces of Destiny” series on animated shorts in July, backed by new 11-inch Hasbro Adventure Figure toys, combing traditional dolls with action figures. The 2-3-minute shorts, which will air first on Disney YouTube, will focus on the adventures of female Star Wars characters, including Rey, Jyn Erso, Sabine Wren, Princess Leia, Ahsoka Tano and others.

The series will depict how the decisions the characters make shape their destinies. There also will be a two-part TV special in the fall on Disney Channel along with licensed toys, apparel and bedding. The Adventure Figure toys will depict the characters in action poses – Rey swinging a lightsaber – and feature multiple points of articulation. Hasbro also will field role play and accessory items, including an electronic Jedi Power lightsaber and Rey’s extendable staff.

The series will debut with a sneak peek during a “Heroines of Star Wars” panel discussion at the Star Wars Celebration convention in Orlando, FL, tomorrow.
