Anybody who’s doing consumer business in the EU – whether they’re based there or not — needs to understand the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which goes into effect on May 25. It will govern how organizations need to ensure that personal data is gathered legally and under strict conditions, and that those who collect and manage it protect it from misuse and exploitation, along with respecting the rights of the data owners. Tom Broster of the UK-based legal and business strategy firm Briffa will walk us through the facets of the GDPR and the likely implications for everyone’s businesses.
