The Licensing Awards 2010

Thursday last saw the fifth annual Licensing Awards in London in the new format launched by the team at Max Publishing in 2006. The occasion lived up to all expectations with plenty of entertainment, from comedian Chris Addison to the plethora of special videos created by a variety of UK licensors and event sponsors. More than 1000 guests made this the biggest event ever, and there was much to celebrate for the Award winners, many of whom are long-established LIMA members. The winners have been listed extensively elsewhere, but we must make special mention of Lifetime Achievement Award winner, Andrew Lane. Andrew has been a long-term supporter of LIMA, and is a member of the UK advisory committee. He is one of few professionals who have enjoyed success on both sides of the licensing process, as licensee and as licensing agent. Our congratulations go to Andrew and to all the other winners.

The event did its bit for cross trade-association relations, too, as it transpired. LIMA table guest Gordon Glenister of the BMPA was delighted to be the winner of the ‘higher/lower’ contest that got the evening off to a lively start, pocketing Harry Potter film premiere invites including hotel and slap-up dinner courtesy of sponsors Warner Bros Consumer Products. Gordon quipped that he arrived knowing no-one but the UK LIMA team but left with the congratulations and greetings of nearly everyone there who saw him lift the prize.
