Celebrating 10 Years of Expo Licensing Brazil
It is no news that Brazil is going thru a huge political crisis that affects the country’s economy and has undermined consumer and investors’ confidence however, it seems there is a breath of new air in the licensing industry and the business community seems to agree that we start to see the light at the end of the tunnel, generating overall positive reaction and good expectations for 2018!
The show took place on August 29-30 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in São Paulo, featuring 45 exhibitors – from majors to independents, licensing and promotional agencies – and totaled more than 2,000 visitors, including industry and retailers’ executives. Through a unique event format that combines a business trade show, content and experience, the show offers an ideal environment for licensee veterans and new comers seeking for licensing opportunities to meet and do business. Also important to mention the high level of lectures and business panels, from the country’s largest toy retailer (RI Happy) CEO offering a future view of retail experience, to LIMA’s president sharing an overview of licensing. By the way, LIMA and EP Grupo (Brazil show organizer) recently announced a collaboration that will allow Brazilian associates of ABRAL to have access to LIMA benefits, including the online licensing directory.
In terms of content, we continue and see Entertainment brands (specially animation / kids IP’s) leading licensing opportunities, but there is no doubt Corporate, Arts, Digital and Sports Licensing are rapidly growing among Brazilians and it shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone to see in the near future the market share of these areas combined getting closer to Entertainment. Something to check in the near future!
